A LETTER FROM YOUR EDITOR
Welcome to Randomized.Created on Xanga in 2003, it has just returned from a 2 year hiatus with a new home and hopefully will enjoy a new and popular life here.
For those new to Randomized, it is little more than a random grouping of things I've found entertaining on the internet in the past week.
This first one will be sort of short too, since I started working on it Sunday night with the intention of re-launching on Monday.
Its Monday.
Prepare for liftoff:
LOOK AT THE PRETTY PICTURES
Some things never change:

GO GREEN
Cities worldwide are promoting environmentally “green” roofs to mitigate several urban problems. Ground cover, shrubs and other flora planted across a building’s roof can reduce storm water runoff, easing the burden on local sewers and water treatment systems. And the vegetation can keep the roof cooler in summer, lowering interior air-conditioning costs and therefore peak demand on area power plants.

ISSUE # 84
~A LETTER FROM YOUR EDITOR~
These weeks just seem to fly by. This week went by espically fast.
The fact that I didn't get one singel comment this week was discouraging. I get more comments than that when I dont update for 6 months at a time.
Granted, that last issue sucked more than usual, but you could have at least comment to tell me it sucked.
I'm thinking about starting a webring for all my loyal minions to join once I've offically left Xanga. That is, if I have any minions left.

~POINT YOUR BROWSER HERE~
Jalapeno Burns is the first blog I'm going to turn you toward today. When I first surfed past this blog I thought, "Nifty, its Q-bert. Awww....the little green guy looks concerned."
And, why I was never able to get past the first level of q-bert, I did managed to get past the first entry of this blog. I read the entire front page. I did not browse the archives, but I did check out the cartoon gallery, in which I found THIS image confusing and disturbing and for some reason it brought to mind images of a certain television mini-series written by Stephen King.
Oh, wait, I was talking about content, wasn't I?
So, what EXACTLY made me want to share this blog? If I had to pick one thing, just ONE thing it would be this line right here:
~
Moving on to our second blog of this issue, I bring you Adventures of Mooney Angelo.
This place is not quite pure genious, but pretty damn close.
Its poetry. Not necesicarly GOOD poetry, but poetry regardless. And child friendly. With amusing pictures to go alone with each poem.
My favorite? The Snowball Fight
~
And this brings us to our last (but not least favorite) of this issue's blogs, Pretentious pretenses (of thoughts in pixels)
This one won me over solely on the faceless, not-quite-stick-figures that accompany each post. Even without the accompanying text, the picture tells the story in its own right.
A picture is worth a thousand words? Quite possibly, yes.

~THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE BORED~
You could always start a new blog. There's new blog host in the world. Coming from the minds behind Blog Explosion, the new host, Blogcharm, is offering something that no other host out there is offering. THEY are offering to pay YOU to use their blog...not the other way around.
You could take time to read a book. Not just any book, but a CLASSIC NOVEL...all without having to log off the iternet. Just check out The Library of the Classics and read one of many well loved classics. (Which all happen to also be horror novels, but thats not my fault.)
You could visit the Daily . Wav to hear and download sound clips from various movies and television series. Also comes in handy if you've created a podcast over at podomatic and need nifty things to use in it.
And then there is Bloglinker. I don't know YOU figure it out and explain it to me.

ISSUE #83
~A LETTER FROM YOUR EDITOR~
Wow, where did the week go? It seems to me I was just putting up Issue #82!
I'm looking for good ideas on what to have in future Issues of Randomized. Is there something that you would really like to see happen with this madness? Drop me a comment or send me an e-mail with your idea, I'll give it a big think over, and if it doesnt suck, I'll use it. -smile-
Don't forget to visit the new Randomized page at http://www.randomizedv2.blogspot.com From there you can sign up for the e-mail announcements of new posts.

~NEW BLOGS TO READ~
If you are a media junkie, particularly a fan of television, you should visit So Very Posh. There is alot of talk about tv, including the non-need to delve into sex with superpowers issue and a poll on your favorite Sci-fi series in the past 10 years.
For anyone who is now a parent but once to be a teenager, you should check out Confessions of a Former Backtalking Teen - Turned Mom. Even I, who have no children that do not have 4 legs, fur and/or no legs and fins, was able to appreciate this blog. Espically her entry, "I will never spank my children for crying."
And then there's lilhubs who participated in that meme currently going around on listing 5 weird habits you have. Her weird habits included sleeping alot, chewing alot of gum and regretting the things she did not do. If thats as weird as she gets I have to say she's better off than alot of us.

~BOREDOM BUSTERS~
1. Last issue I told you about Podomatic.com. This issue I send you to Shitty Blogs Radio at Podomatic (*contains strong language....LOTS of strong language). Listen to some of the old shows, then join in on a LIVE show at Mango Radio on Thursday nights at 9pm est (until whenever the they feel like quitting...usually runs about 3 hours) and if you join the live, there is also a CHAT ROOM active when the show is on.
See, three boredom busters in one.
Did I say three? I mean 4, because Shitty Blogs Radio is really a verbal, podcast-y extension of the Shitty Blogs Club. If you have a shitty blog and you're proud of the fact, join the Shitty Blogs Club.
2. If you enjoy looking at pictures of pretty animals you can burn a few mintues looking at the photos taken by the winners of the National Wildlife magazine's 35th annual photography competition. My favorite shot was the fox, third up from the bottom of the page.

~GET YOUR BELLY LAUGHS HERE~
You've really need to go and appreciate the Best Blond Joke Ever.
Groanworthy: Two men walked into a bar. You would think at least one of them would have ducked.
(I soooo lacked good jokes for this one. Sorry 'bout that.)

~NEW THINGS TO READ~
Late I've found much joy in reading I Talk Too Much. It is a site that reviews the blogs of people who ask to have their blogs reviewed. (They do not review sites that you submit for a review that IS NOT YOURS) The reviews can be very harsh, even for the few blogs they actually LIKED. I've submitted one of my many blogs for review. That should be fun.
And through them I found People You Might Meet on the Internet where pictures people have posted of themselves on the internet get posted and poked fun at. Some of its very mean spirited. PYMMOTI even has had and Anti-pymmoti blog made against it. However, some of it is very funny. Anything online that makes me laugh out loud (really laugh out loud, not just net speak lol) I have to pass on as readable.
In Xanga land...
M0NKEY_see_M0NKEY_do is going to be in Peter Pan playing the crocodile.
TigressDrusilla turned 22 on the 12th. Go wish her a happy late one.

~A BRIGHT IDEA~
Clocky, An MIT Media Lab Research Project
Profile By Gauri Nanda
Note: Gauri received her MS in media arts and sciences from MIT in 2005 as a member of the Object-Based Media research group.Clocky is, quite simply, for people who have trouble waking up.
When the alarm clock goes off and the snooze button is pressed, Clocky will fall off of the bedside table and wheel away, bumping mindlessly into objects on the floor until he eventually finds a spot to rest. Minutes later, when the alarm sounds again, the over-sleeper must get up out of bed and search for Clocky. Because you employ multiple senses to find the clock, you are sure to awake before disabling the alarm. Small wheels enable Clocky to move and reposition himself, and an internal computer helps him find a new hiding spot every day.
I've been known to hit the snooze bar for up to two hours or even accidentally turn it off. I've known people who put the alarm clock in the living room, but then forget to set it before going to bed. Others say they are trying to wean themselves off of snoozing, as if it was a bad habit like smoking or drinking. In the foggy logic of our drowsiness, we disable the very device that is meant to wake us up. Having the alarm clock hide from me was just the most obvious way I could think of to get out of bed.
Current alarm clocks are obnoxious, stressful devices that don't do their intended job very well. Clocky is less of an annoying device and more like a troublesome pet that you love anyway. He is playful. He likes games like hide-and-seek and catch me if you can. And he is a bit ugly. But his unconventional looks keep the user calm and incite laughter in one of the most hated times of the day.
Clocky is not trying to solve all of the problems with alarm clocks—for example how they disrupt other people in the room—but I think maybe someday he can. I think the answer rests in the usage of multiple Clockies. Let's say there are two people with different sleep schedules sharing a room. Maybe one person's Clocky can tell the other to hush up if he has sounded off one too many times. Or, maybe they can form an alliance and simultaneously target the offending over-sleeper. I have adopted the philosophy that when two devices communicate, they can solve more problems—that is, two Clockies are better than one.
I like to explore how bad designs become adopted and then, through my work, show how they can be different. There is a perception that technology has to be complicated. My work typically focuses on industrial design projects that add some intelligence into the mix in a way that is simple. So objects do their jobs better without additional complexity. I don't want to have to use things that require me to know or learn something beforehand. So those are the kind of designs I try to create.
Clocky uses inexpensive chips and sensors. He is currently being prototyped in several soft, durable designs, and with multiple personalities.
Clocky is an academic research project and is not commercially available at this time.
See a video clip of clocky HERE.

Jennababygurl so totally mopped the floor with me in last weeks game of Copter. Her higest score (hightest score reported to me anyway) was 1768!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today you should go to Best of Blogs and put in your votes for each category. That should be a real boredom buster if you actually READ all the blogs before you cast your vote for your favorites.
So, you've heard of podcasting, right? Well, go to Podomatic and create your own podcast FOR FREE. Later you can even advertise it here to get listners.
Do you enjoy sketching, drawing, painting, computer art? Try Illustration Friday where hundreds of artistic bloggers around the world are given a "theme" to draw on every friday. Even if, like me, you are not so very artistic, all the picutres shared are still fun to look at.

ISSUE #81
~A LETTER FROM YOUR EDITOR~
You would have thought that by now Randomized would be well past its 100th issue and have a large following of zombifyed minions at my beck and call.
Well, obviously its not, and obvously I dont.
I do enjoy Randomized. I have since its creation. It was a good way for me to share interesting Xanga's I came across, as well as other interesting web pages. Unfortunately, I didn't devote as much time to it as I should have.
I spread myself to thin on the internet. I'm in too many groups. I keep too many blogs.
With this new year I've resolved to stop spreading myself so thinly, and to focuse myself more on what I already have.
Luckily for you, Randomized is something I already have.
With Randomized, this year I'm going to have no less than 1 issue a month. Possibly more, espically in the beginning to re-boost my flagging readership, but no less than 1.
I've gotten a more demanding job and I dont have as much time as I once did to surf xanga, so I dont know exactly what each issue will be like, but I will try to still feature at least one new xanga for you to visit.
If you would like to submit a certain xanga blog or a certain entry on a certain xanga blog, you're more than welcome to do so. I'm accepting submissions this year, and the info on that will be listed below.
-doot-doot-
~IMPORTANT INFORMATION~
Randomized is MOVING!
I know this will cause a cry of horror from Xanga fans, but I feel the need to spread my wings.
Each of the next 10 issues will be posted both HERE and at the new location and each will include a link to the new location.
After the 10th issue (which will be Isssue #90) there will only be updates at the new location.
Fret not though, my friends, you will be able to "subscribe" to the new Randomized via Bloglet, which will send you an e-mail when I update, and you will still be able to comment as well. There will still be blogs featured and though they wont all be from Xanga, I wont forget my xanga roots.
That new location is going to be: http://www.randomizedv2.blogspot.com
-doot-doot-
~ZIPPY WANTS YOU~
There are going to be new sections in 2006.
Due to the move the "Brand New Minions" section will be gone, but there will be instead:
Classifieds: YOU the reader can advertise your non-profit personal site. Be it a blog, a web page or something esle, as long as its not a "buy my stuff" venue. Send me the link at zippyb@gmail.com
Reader Reccomendations: If there is a blog or webpage that YOU think is worth a mention, send it to me at zippyb@gmail.com along with the title of the page, the url to the page an a short review by YOU. If you do not include those things it WILL NOT be included.

~SOMETHING TO READ~
While looking for somethign to read today, I found that it seems many Xangites have decided they no longer want to type in anything even remotely resembling the English I speak. Makes it hard to find good stuff to share.
Jennababygurl, one of the ones who stuck by me even when I sucked, is feeling like nobody likes her. Go give her some Random lovin' and let her know that we here in Xangaland love her just the way she is!
juicy_lolipop is speaking of hair, Tyler, Chapters, and animals, all in one post. I love "train of thought" blogging. There are also icons. Icons=luv.
There has been a theft! mhmmYEAHokay has had her pillowcase stolen. We here at Randomized ask that whoever took the case, please return it now.
-doot-doot-
~ONE DRINK ONLY~
From now one, Randomized minions are only allowed one drink per issue. You will be handed a cup at time of publication, and no refills will be allowed. Please obey this new rule, in order to combat drunken unruliness:
-doot-doot-
~THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE BORED~
- How far can YOU fly the Copter? (505 was my best)
- Can you tell if its Animal, Vegetable or Mineral? (I got 12 of the 16 correct)
- Would you survive the Zombie Apocalypse? Proove It.
